The political factions in Lebanon, the Christians, Sunni Moslems, Druzes, and Shia Moslems, have moved into military positions in Beirut. The date of the final American withdrawal is predicted for mid-March. The British and Italian forces are in stages of withdrawal. A French contingent may remain until a United Nations force takes over.

Profits Are Up, But Not Yet Where They Belong
Article Abstract:
Figures for 1983 show increasing profits for public companies around the world. The profit boom may lead to increased capital spending which will help the economic recovery. Graphs illustrate the situation in Japan, West Germany, Britain and the United States.

The Buck Stops Where?
Article Abstract:
The concept of ministerial responsibility is an issue in Great Britain. Recent gross errors in the home office and Northern Ireland have not led to the resignation of the ministers responsible. An alternative mechanism to punish maladministration is needed.
