Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom market for white spirits fell 0.9% to 77 million litres worth 1.7 billion pounds sterling in 1994 from 1993. Gin accounted for 30% of the market by value and 32% by volume, while vodka accounted for just less than 50% of sales by value and volume. Off licence sales have increased, with 77% of gin sales accounted for by off licences in 1993. Sales of own label products have risen, with own labels accounting for 34% of gin and 24% of vodka sales by volume in 1993.
