Migration and regional adjustment to asymmetric shocks in transition economies
Article Abstract:
The efficacy of migration in facilitating regional adjustment to country-specific shocks is assessed. Results indicate that the effect of unemployment and wages on net migration is significant, but it is economically very small and that migration during transition was low, despite the increasing interregional disparities.

Why are European countries diverging in their unemployment experience?
Article Abstract:
Some evidences that the countries that got out of the unemployment problem and implemented a number of labor market reforms are presented. The potential obstacles to labor market flexibility is outlined and some perspectives to explain why some countries have reformed their labor markets and others have not are discussed.
