'Wither higher education?' an economic perspective for the Dearing Committee on Inquiry

Article Abstract:

There is a need for reform in the British educational system but the data to support these reforms are limited and the Dearing Committee on Inquiry should recognize the need to gather more evidence. The committee will be addressing the needs of the educational system in the next 20 years and will be focusing on the amount of expansion, differentiated tuition fees, access to higher education, student subsidy, sustaining standards and the amount of money needed.

Costs and industrial structure in contemporary British higher education

Article Abstract:

The British educational system should evolve in such a way that the operation of the universities currently available is maximized. A cost effective educational system should be employed as there is currently no need for adding new universities or merging existing ones. The conclusions however, should be regarded as arbitrary as it seeks only to find early plans for the Dearing Committee on Inquiry's aim to reform the educational system of the country.

Article Abstract:

Papers on the economic considerations on the United Kingdom's educational structure should help committee deliberations on the matter. Papers have explored the sustainability of the current educational system and have concluded that reform is needed in terms of both efficiency and equity. The Dearing Committee on Inquiry should recognize the need for more hard data to support the need for reform in the educational system.
