Article Abstract:

A personal narrative is presented describing a New York education administrator's experiences of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on New York and how it affected the city, and particularly its school system. Children in the three schools located near the World Trade Center were evacuated and walked to nearby schools further north.

Article Abstract:

A national survey on the financing of higher education revealed that the majority of the parents of students in higher education oppose the student-loan scheme because it encourages a debt culture. The results of the survey support other findings that student debt is rising and impacting the well-being of the students.

The candidates in the 2000 US presidential campaign have both promised to cut the cost of going to college, as the idea of higher education for all becomes achievable. Major reductions will probably be unlikely as big changes are unaffordable.
