A collision course with censorship
Article Abstract:
British newspapers and the British Government are joining forces to increase censorship of moving image media, including video, television and cinema. The United Kingdom already censors more material than elsewhere in Europe and the government apparently refuses to acknowledge the moving image culture. The Government claims to be protecting the consumer by supporting the effects theory which states that viewers will replicate screen activities and behaviour. However, this theory is not a true supposition of how viewers actually relate to screen images.
