A new beginning for a strained relationship
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to the failure of universities in the United Kingdom to match graduate skills to the needs of industry are examined in the light of the recent white paper on higher education released by the government and the argument that universities should cooperate more with business and industry in order to produce skilled graduates who are ready for work. It is stated that such a cooperation would offer opportunities to academia and business to innovate beyond the confines of current convention and generate a level of business responsiveness and creativity that could make the UK a world-leading force.
