A novel take on healing the sick
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the degree to which an understanding of literature could help doctors treat their patients. Rita Charon, professor of clinical medicine at Columbia University, contends that a knowledge of literature helps doctors understand that when a patient comes to visit them, there is a narrative thread to be found and that part of their job is just to listen as the patient relates their story.
