A place to spot the future
Article Abstract:
Some observers have expressed doubts about the role of the UK Royal Institute of International Affairs. In fact, the institute is in very good shape and is very optimistic about its future activities. It has young employees who firmly believe in their work, and this will provide it with a strong basis for the 21st century. It is in a very good position to ensure that the complicated issues associated with international affairs are accessible to ordinary people. However, it is not complacent, and is aware of the need to widen its membership.

Article Abstract:
The Halley research station is situated at the coldest place on earth in the Antarctic. Research equipment frequently breaks down because of the cold, with fire also a a constant danger because of the environment's excessive dryness. There are four months of darkness from early May onwards, with auroras providing exciting data on atmospheric activity resulting from space storms. Researchers constantly carry out meteorological observations, with the data used by other researchers worldwide.
