America's cities: A period of revival
Article Abstract:
In the 1960s and 1970s the authority of large cities seemed to have dwindle, but in 1990s a revival of all sorts was experienced because the cities participated in the prosperity of that decade. The factors that were associated with the turnaround and how several cities succeeded or failed in maintaining the prosperity are explained.

Expanding local support groups: the need for voluntary services
Article Abstract:
Informal community based safety nets are being organized in the US to help in the care and treatment of the sick, the elderly and children. Federal government resources are insufficient to handle the multitude of individuals in need of assistance, thus the need for these informal reciprocal self-help groups.

The way in which culture has begun to step back from the counter-culture of the sixties is traced. In addition, the way through which many Americans have changed their views and behavior on love, marriage, work, and politics is explored explaining what new social data signify in terms of cultural change.
