Budget blight on universities
Article Abstract:
The British Government expects universities and colleges throughout the United Kingdom to make up the Nov. 1995's budget reductions in capital funding by finding more private funding through the new Private Finance Initiative. Over the next three years the Government plans to reduce further education capital funding by almost 50%, and will instead give an a large proportion of this saving to schools. It is argued that since the Private Finance Initiative project is new, any raised capital may not be enough to make up the difference, and that other initiatives such as the Teaching and Learning Technology Programme could suffer as a result.
