Business of being allies
Article Abstract:
The rise in the number of UK business schools started during the 1980s, as a result of social science courses having their funding reduced. Many social scientists moved into the advanced study of management. There are around 100 business school in the UK. Some of the academics in business schools are researching and criticising the capitalist system rather than giving it their support. Those who teach management have chosen to forsake the chance to earn larger salaries as management consultants. Some universities consider business schools as inferior.

Distance learning has been promoted as the future for education, but business schools need to look at the bigger picture before jumping in. Distance learning like other schemes has benefits, but also disadvantages.
