Chile irons out market wrinkles. Higher education economy
Article Abstract:
During the rule of Pinochet higher education was run by academic economists known as the 'Chicago boys'. The Chicago boys were allowed to carry out an economic experiment in the country which after the fall of the military government left Chile with a favourable economic climate.The democratic government has increased subsidies to universities allowing the entry of poorer students, but found it difficult to apply quality controls to established universities.

Article Abstract:
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Times Higher Education Supplement, an overview is provided of the development and change in British higher education. The change is summed up in the term "nationalisation," which has resulted in more than 50 percent of Britain's youth receiving higher education.
