Future of neutron production lies in pulse sharing and cash
Article Abstract:
The internationally-renowned spallation neutron source ISIS is negotiating a bid of over 6 million pounds sterling with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council for an upgrade to facilitate a 50% rise in the number of neutrons that can be used in scattering experiments. A further investment of about 50 million pounds sterling would be required for a new target station for cold neutron experiments, with ISIS seeking to bid under the 600 million pounds sterling joint research infrastructure fund.
