Great expectations for postgrad literacy
Article Abstract:
The professor of evolutionary biology at the University of Sheffield argues that whatever the changes that take place to higher education, what academics will always demand is well written work from their students. An example is given of how, 25 years ago, one student who had appeared to be well rounded turned out to have appalling writing, and it is suggested that, as a result of changes to postgraduate training modules, it is very unlikely that such a situation would arise today.
