Is it time for the many not the few?
Article Abstract:
The Fryer Report into lifelong learning will be published in Nov 1997. It has been a very difficult task for the members of the committee who have produced at least four drafts. Chairman of the Committee Professor Fryer stated that he was keen to find a way to equalise the provision of higher education for all citizens in the UK. Undergraduates are five times more likely to come from wealthy backgrounds than from poor households. Fees introduced at universities have not been pledged, by the Treasury, to provide additional funding in higher education.
