Let universities throw off shackles of the state
Article Abstract:
Higher education is vital for the UK's future wealth and social development, but successive governments have underfunded the country's universities and colleges. It is argued that, given the importance of higher education, everybody - the government, taxpayers and businesses - should be investing for the future and that the government should be investing a sum of at least UKPd1.5 bil/yr in order to ensure that the sector continues to contribute to society.

...believe Lambert is out of touch with modern industry
Article Abstract:
The chief executive of The Council for Industry and Higher Education argues that Richard Lambert's review of collaboration between universities and the business sector was out of touch with the changing nature of the UK economy. It is contended that the report did not attach enough significance to the service industry, or to businesses in fields such as fashion, music, advertising and software.
