Long live diversity
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the contention by Trevor Phillips, chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality, that multiculturalism in the United Kingdom is at an end and that ethnic groups need to be forced to adapt to Britishness. It is contended that this argument is flawed, that the UK, and in particular England, was multicultural long before the influx of postwar migrants, and that the creation of a truly multicultural society has to be the long-term aim.
