Motivating students
Article Abstract:
Teachers at the Joint Vocational School in Delaware, OH, use motivational strategies to effectively educate their students. Many of the school's students suffer from low self-concepts, alienation and inability to plan for the future. To rectify these negative qualities, the teachers maximixe every opportunity to understand their students, create a positive classroom atmosphere as well as design creative and appropriate lessons. Their teaching strategies include incentives, game playing, cooperative learning and role models.

Article Abstract:
Comprehensive vocational education programs have been successful in keeping at-risk students in school. Statitistics show that the educational system has failed in increasing the quality of student performance. To combat this, Three-year vocational education cooperative demonstration programs have been applied in 10 schools across the US. The project is aimed at developing student competence in basic skills, economic self-sufficiency and maintaining self-esteem.
