Outside all the boxes
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the difficulties university researchers face when they try and conduct research that crosses into two or more disciplines. It is suggested that most of these difficulties stem from the fact that the majority of modern universities are established on the 18th-century Newtonian model of science, in which knowledge can be reduced into definable, departmentalised fields, whereas, in reality much research does not fit neatly into one area and instead spills across into two or more.
