Putting the just into justice
Article Abstract:
Professor of Law Ronald Dworkin suggests judges must be careful in their use of the law to judge a current case as it stands before the courts and to use what has happened in past cases. He calls for equality and justice in the law. Dworkin has been accused of being idealist in his approach to law and it has been suggested his experience of the law is limited. Although he has been involved in some controversial cases. Dworkin studied at Oxford University, England, under Legal Philosopher H.L.A. Hart. Tooley, madly, deeply
Article Abstract:
Newcastle University, Newcastle, England, Professor of Education James Tooley feels the state has not lived up to expectations and made society more equal through education. Tooley undertook to look into the value of educational research in the UK. He found 50% of research papers, in four journals, were not of a sufficient standard. Tooley dislikes the idea of the state funding educational research. He suggests every child should have 2,000 pounds sterling to pay for their education, allowing parents free choice of establishment. Tooley was a member of the militant Labour Party.
