Reviews: Software Previews: Hands On Basic
Article Abstract:
Hands On Basic is a program which allows users to learn to program at home. Hands On Basic consists of a 175-page tutorial and a programming disk which complement, but do not duplicate each other. The tutorial has students follow step-by-step items in order to understand commands, statements and procedures. The disk's enhanced ANSI standard BASIC interpreter has students progress from simple to complex programs. Assistance in diagnosing errors is provided by a fine trace control, allowing students to go through the program and see the effects on variables displayed. This interactive program is very useful, except for the fact that ANSI BASIC has fewer commands, statements, functions and less power than other, more powerful BASICs. However this makes it an easy way for beginning students to learn to program in BASIC. This program costs $79.00 for use on the Apple II, IIe, or Franklin Ace, 48K.
