Article Abstract:
The Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) intends to apply for additional funding from the Wellcome Trust and the UK government. The PPARC is planning to inform industry about some its work which may have commercial application. They are going to publish the Road Map document which will outline PPARC's objectives for the future. PPARC works on long term projects some of them planned 20 years in advance. Life, the universe and everything
Article Abstract:
Steven Weinberg's latest book, "Dreams of a Final Theory," deals with the Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) experiment. The SSC is designed to show how the universe runs using the laws of physics. The project received encouragement from President Bush and President Clinton. Weinberg fears the project may yet fail through lack of funds, but hopes another investor may be found.
