The Association of University Teachers (AUT) is still proposing to join up with the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education (NATFHE), after over a year of frustrating negotiations. The AUT wants to retain sole negotiating rights for academic and related staff, although NATFHE, the smaller of the two unions, is concerned that its resulting organisation will only represent further education.
