Squaring the circle
Article Abstract:
Stonehenge is an ancient monument in England which may have been started in 3050 BC and finished in 2300 BC. A great deal of effort was needed to build the monument which indicates a rich society and political control. There is a different of opinion as to the function of the monument, which may have been religious. There is also a debate as to how the stones were transported to the site. One theory is that they were carried by glaciers, but Julian Richards, an archaeologist, argues that they could have been transported by men.

Article Abstract:
The UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) is providing funds for young researchers who have completed a doctorate. The rules are less stringent for researchers seeking funds of under 40,000 pounds sterling. Applicants do not have to hold an academic position to obtain funds, though they are advised to seek small amounts. Detailed proposals are needed, and applicants complains that they have to wait for some four months before obtaining funds after they have been approved.
