Article Abstract:
Sergeant Jonathan Dowd and Detective chief inspector Kate Halpin, both police officers in the United Kingdom, examine their studies in the United States in the light of the launch by the Fulbright Commission, which promotes educational exchange between the UK and US, of its annual report which has a focus on police studies fellowships. Dowd spent four months learning about the mental health strategies employed by the police department in Seattle, while Halpin spent seven months studying gang-related crime in Los Angeles.

An analysis of the benefits of university admissions tests as a way of gauging the aptitude of university applicants. Many of those who oversee student admissions believe that the current system is about to reach crisis point and that the introduction of admissions tests will be beneficial to the university system as a whole.
