Swing for ape to tape in a different kind of jungle
Article Abstract:
The University of Strathclyde, Scotland, has developed a range of educational services in its audio visual department. The majority of work produced by Audio Visual Media Services (AVMS) is utilized by the university, with 70% of its output used for teaching. The creation of interactive media, such as a chemistry CD-Rom, has been found to be very useful. AVMS has also won accolades for its video on recruitment. AVMS Director Alan Goodhall suggests the department may expand into producing work for the private sector. AVMS also offers services such as photography.

Invisible universities offer tangible rewards
Article Abstract:
The development of online higher education services has led to some universities being able to offer their courses throughout the world. It can lead to a foreign university being in competition with the national higher education establishment without having a physical presence in the country. Countries must be prepared to vary the methods and type of education which is offered to the people. The criteria for the standards of education offered by new types of providers will have to be established.
