The duty to create life
Article Abstract:
London Gynaecology and Fertility Centre Director Professor Ian Craft suggests that a national agency should be established to look into the problems involved with surrogacy, and to run egg donation and surrogacy facilities. Craft has many strong views on infertility which has often brought him into dispute with the UK Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority. He is supportive of parents choosing the sex of their child and women being paid to donate their eggs. Craft has developed many techniques to help infertile couples particularly in the field of male infertility.

Open access policy reviewed as budgets cut by millions
Article Abstract:
Community colleges give women, mature and ethnic minority students in the US the chance to take academic or vocational qualifications and gain a place at university. There are 1,158 of them, and students pay low fees to attend. Students can take courses as their circumstances permit. The colleges are seen as helping the local community by training people, and may get help from President Clinton. They are suffering from reduced budgets and increased numbers.

Freedom of speech means open season
Article Abstract:
The US higher education system runs itself, there are no equivalents to the Department of Education. There are 35,000 colleges, demanding fees of $1,500 up to $23,000 for their courses. Most of the colleges actively recruit from ethnic minorities and change their courses to allow access from other cultures. The recession has affected higher education, but colleges try to keep fees low.
