The predictable scandal
Article Abstract:
People who write autobiographies do not necessarily stick to the truth as proved by Vivian Gornick's memoir Fierce Attachments and James Frey's Smoking Gun, which have a number of factual inaccuracies, and the same is true of newspapers where reporters fabricate elements in their articles. The publishing industry is indifferent to such scandals and the reasons for its indifference to factuality start with its business model wherein a book manuscript rarely undergoes fact checking.
