Higher education in England is spending GBP250 mil a year on inspection systems, and this is having a great psychological and financial impact on institutions. Inspections cover areas including auditing, accountability, quality control and research.

The UK's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) has been flawed since its very inception and should be shut down. The QAA is run by people with no knowledge of education, and its inspections waste both money and time.
