Growth in data and computing power has led to an age of immense importance to mathematics as reflected in varied use of applied mathematics in sectors such as services, energy, environment, advanced manufacturing and counterterrorism. Pure theoretical mathematics has also received attention due to proof of Fermat's last theorem and the Poincare conjecture.
