Article Abstract:
An analysis of the long-term impact, both psychological and economic, of dropping out on one-time university students. It is argued that the mismarketing of university education in an attempt to expand the number of people becoming students will inevitably result in more and more people simply dropping out when they realise that the reality of university education does not match what they were led to believe it would be.

Article Abstract:
The only way for the United Kingdom to rejoin the global race for innovation is by training creative engineers. Universities can help do this by focusing on fundamental research, by being effective at technology transfer and by applying the full range of resources and abilities that are at their disposal.
