A/C, Neptune set margin balance
Article Abstract:
Major appliance business is selling a lot of units but the dollar margins are dropping. There is an almost-unanimous agreement among independent, regional and national appliance retailers that innovation will provide the solution to push up profits from flat. The industry is enjoying strong sales for innovations such as Thermadors, Sub-Zeros, Vikings and Maytag's Neptune washing machine. Retailers can get ticket prices up with innovations because consumers are willing to spend more money on products that excite them.
