Alpine revs up car audio market with DVD navigation systems
Article Abstract:
Alpine Electronics of America Inc is banking on its DVD navigation system, a product that it introduced in Jul 1999, to improve its share of the car audio market. The company, which expressed surprise at the warm acceptance of the market for the high-end product, reports a better acceptance for the DVD devices compared to their CD-ROM counterparts. Alpine's strategy is based on the perception that audio-video equipment will be initially more acceptable to US consumers.
