Alpine steers car audio production abroad
Article Abstract:
Alpine Electronics Inc intends to shift 80% of its car audio equipment output to facilities outside Japan. The move, which is in line with the company's made-in-market strategy, is also aimed at creating a corporate structure that will be less vulnerable to currency fluctuations. Alpine, which reported sales of 61 billion yen for the first half of FY1999, has already completed a plant in Hungary and is making plans to increase production at its facility in Dalian, China.
