As FPD TVs surge in Taiwan, Vendors scan new display options
Article Abstract:
A study conducted by the Market Intelligence Center (MIC) of Taiwan indicates that shipment volumes for Taiwanese LCD TVs hit a new high of 400000 units during the first quarter of 2004. The developers have acquired a strong foothold in emerging displaying technologies for plasma display panels, organic light-emitting diode displays, liquid crystal on silicon panels and other kinds of display.

The production capacities, shipment data, for flat panel liquid crystal display television sets, are discussed. Japanese companies are currently on the leading position in terms of the number of facilities, manufacturing LCD TVs. The trend seen in the production of these TVs, by Taiwanese, Korean and Chinese companies, is also detailed.
