The overall consumer industry in the year 2003 displayed a rise in the video, with an increase of seven percent more units and earning ten percent more revenue while the audio product categories came down five percent in units and seven percent in dollars. However, in the new digital marketplace, how customers approach their electronics purchases for years to come is sure to change.

Cumulative sales of digital television are projected at 85 million units by the end of 2007. The transition from analog to digital television is discussed.
