CMC aims to expand supplies of DVDs, other optical discs
Article Abstract:
CMC Magnetics Corp of Taiwan has announced its plan to expand its production capacity for opticals discs. The company said that it will boost output to 5.5 million units per month at the Chung-Li facility, 7 million units at the Lin-Kuo plant, and 5 million units at the Jin-Li factory by June 1999. CMC will also build a two-story plant at its Lin-Kuo facility which will feature automatic production lines. CMC is targetting total monthly output of 30.5 million discs at the four plants by the end of 1999.

Alpine raises curtain on vehicle-use 'mobile theater' using DVDs

Alpine Electronics has developed five new products that may comprise the elements of a theater system inside automobiles. These products are a 1- DIN DVD-Video player, a 1-DIN digital audio broadcast receiver, a Dolby Digital decoder, an extremely-efficient digital audio amplifer, and Dual Direct Drive speaker. The DVD-Video player serves as source of excellent- quality A/V signals, performing quality recording through MPEG-2 technology.
