Nippon Columbia Company Ltd of Japan, also known as Denon, has introduced the DMD-S10 minidisc player in 1999. The player features Denon's AL24 processing system that performs 24-bit processing using a 24-bit analog- digital converter. The precise 24-bit operational processing on analog signals to deliver fine-definition recording is made possible by an adaptive transform acoustic coding IC. The minidisc player sells for $1,983.

XR-MD310 MiniDisc (MD) component system

Aiwa Co Ltd introduces its XR-MD310 MiniDisc (MD) component system that incorporates an MD long-play function. This offers up to 320 min of recording on an 80-min MD. The main unit features an MD player, a CD player, a tuner and a 30W amplifier. Also, the product, which measures 37.6 cm, uses BBE sound processing. XR-MD310's sampling rate converter automatically converts 32 kHz and 48 kHz sampling frequencies to 44.1 kHz.

Kenwood Corp introduces its DMC-M55 portable MiniDisc (MD) player that can play up to 100 hrs continuously in MD long-play 4 mode. To resist the effects of vibration, the player comes with special circuits that ensure 40 sec of memory. The stick-style remote control is easy to operate and view. The product measures 73 x 79.8 x 15.7 mm and weighs 111 g. Recharging time takes 3 hrs.
