Aiwa sees promise in Europe for TVs, audio systems

Aiwa Co Ltd hopes to increase the proportion of its sales coming from Europe to 28% from 25%. The company has established Aiwa Europe Ltd in London to become its European sales headquarters. More than 70% of products planned for introduction in Europe have already been launched. Much of the sales focus is on audio microcomponent and minicomponent systems, which the company expects to become highly competitive by the end of 1999.

Demand for DVD players, digital camcorders to surge in Europe
Article Abstract:
The demand for DVD players and digital camcorders are expected to surge in Europe in 2001. The products gaining in popularity are units using the DVD+RW format from Philips Electronics NV, rewritable DVD products from Pioneer Corp and DVD-RAM products from HItachi Ltd and Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd. With sales of digital camcorders expected to be strong, makers need to deploy software with editing functions.
