Despite slow growth, cellular mobile radios (CMRs) should be a billion dollar industry in the next five years. GE, which expects to provide CMR service in ten of the first thirty cities that go with CMR technology, predicts that the market will reach $600 million in 1984. Because of the large number of applications for licenses, the FCC is considering a lottery to grant cellular system construction permits.

Cross-Merchandising Critical in Closing Add-On Sale

Retailers and manufacturers are saying that salespersons must make customers see the importance of accessories to their computer systems. Accessories are more than half of a computer sale. A system is not complete without accessories. Cross-merchandising is a very effective sales tool. Some retailers prefer cross merchandising after the computer sale is completed.
