Extending lineup, JVC eyes 35 percent of the global digital camcorder market

The Victor Company of Japan, Ltd (JVC) is planning to add more model variations of its digital camcorder, including additional vertical-format models. The company aims to increase its share of the worldwide digital camcorder market to 35%. In 2001, the company plans to push its dual- version strategy with both vertical- and horizontal-format models. At the same time, it also will develop and introduce basic models in the vertical format, adding to its current lineup made up of high-value-added vertical- format models, high-value-added horizontal-format models and basic horizontal-format models.

The Victor Company of Japan Ltd has tried to make digital video cameras smaller since its introduction of the GR-DV1 in 1995 adn the GR-DV2000 in Nov 2000. This, while incorporating more advanced capabilities for capturing images and sounds, and with more advanced features such as functions for still images and functions for easy links to personal computers. The company's efforts have resulted in advancements in five main areas: size, still image functions, larger pixel counts, networking and moving image content production function.
