Fujitsu Ten's Eclipse brand poised for push into Europe, Asia

Fujitsu Ten Ltd, the maker of the Eclipse brand of car audio equipment, is set to introduce its products to the world market. The move is in line with the company's goal of increasing sales by 54% from 130 billion yen in FY1999 to 200 billion yen by 2003. To achieve its goal, Fujitsu intends to increase product development and manufacturing initiatives in plants located in Asia and Mexico. The company will also begin a marketing campaign for Eclipse car audio equipment in Europe and Asia.

Pioneer Steers for Aftermarket by Revamping Car A/V Line

Pioneer Electronic Corp of Japan, intent on increasing its share of the aftermarket automobile audio/video (A/V) business, has upgraded its product offerings. The comapny, which started the campaign in Jan 1998, is planning the introduction of a car navigation system and an LCD monitor by Aug 1998. Pioneer, which has already completed the revamp of its amplifiers, has also enhanced its lines of subwoofers, multimedia, CD players and multiple-CD changers.

Fujitsu Ten Ltd has started marketing its car infotainment concept in 2000. The concept involves the integration of all functions relating to information, communication and entertainment in one system in the car. Such system would include navigation capabilities, telephone and Internet functions, Bluetooth wireless communication capabilities, a digital broadcast receiver and a rear-seat entertainment system.
