The development of liquid crystal display (LCD) television sets using Hitachi Display's in-plane switching (IPS) technology, by IPS Alpha Technology, Ltd, is discussed. The IPS Alpha is a joint venture between Hitachi Limited, Toshiba Corp, and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
