Matsushita retools TFT LCD production lines

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd plans to raise its production of thin-film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal displays (LCDs) to 280,000 units a month from 170,000 units a month by the end of 1999. The production increase will take place by retooling the B1 and B2 lines at the company's Ishikawa facility and the B3 line at the Uozu factory. The capacity expansion will cost Y15 billion to Y20 billion.

FAH series of thin-film thermal print heads
Article Abstract:
Kyocera Corp has introduced its FAH series of thin-film thermal print heads. The product caries a driver IC buried in the substrate through Kyocera's face-down bonding method. Under the process. the driver IC was buried in a depression in the ceramic substrate and fixed with a resin to form a semiconductor layer by sputtering and ethcing. The product line covers printing widths from the A3 go barcode.
