LG Chemical lines up lithium battery plans

Seoul, Korea-based LG Chemicals is reinforcing its capacity for lithium ion batteries and lithium polymer batteries. It is building a line for lithium ion polymer batteries. Its existing production capacity stands at 2 million units combined for lithium ion batteries and lithium polymer batteries. The company is pushing its monthly production output to 3 million lithium ion batteries and 500,000 lithium polymer batteries.

Matsushita tackles thin lithium polymer battery
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Battery Industrial Company Ltd will start production of a lithium polymer battery that will use a gel electrolyte and a soft external case. The battery, to be called the SSP356236, would have a lithiated cobalt-oxide film cathode, a carbon film anode and a stable polymer. It would have an average electrical capacity of 500mAh at 4.2 V and could last through more than 500 charge and discharge cycles.

Sony refuels lithium battery program with diverse new models
Article Abstract:
Sony Corp is boosting its lithium ion battery business by increasing production and developing new and better models. Some of the company's new lithium ion batteries are designed for new applications beyond the notebook computer field. To support expansion plans for production and variety, the company is speeding operations at its lithium ion battery packing plants in Japan and outside the country.
