Mitsubishi rolls seven for HDTV
Article Abstract:
Mitsubishi created seven television sets which can accomodate high definition television technology. Two of these are 16 x 9 units while five are 4 x 3 units. All of these gadgets feature pixel doubling technology that can increase 480 interlaced television signals to 960i, and integrated NTSC tuners. Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics America director of marketing Bob Perry noted that consumers will probably benefit from the two-piece system with the advent of new peripheral technology which can be linked up to the sets' monitors.

Toshiba takes progressive stand
Article Abstract:
Toshiba is scheduled to offer three projection television sets which can be used for applications similar to HDTV in 1998. These machines will require the use of a peripheral digital product that will permit over 800 lines of horizontal resolution as a minimum requirement for HDTV application. Toshiba intends to release this other component by 1999. Toshiba America Consumer Products vice president Steve Nickerson admitted that his company cannot compete with other manufacturers yet in providing a set-top box.

JVC picks its digital spots
Article Abstract:
JVC is expecting consumers to patronize less costly analog television merchandise in 1998. The technology will act as an alternative to digital television, particularly HDTV. JVC is offering four lines of color television sets. The manufacturer has upgraded its analog VCR products to integrate new technology. The company is also supplying new digital camcorders such as the lightest and smallest digital video camera produced yet called the DV3. In addition, JVC has created a new mobile audio-visual system.
