Murata's global supply system races to sate capacitor hunger
Article Abstract:
Electronic parts maker Murata Manufacturing Co Ltd of Japan is projecting record net profits of 50 billion yen on sales of 408 billion yen for the FY99, up by 73.1% and 11.2%, respectively. Pre-tax profits are expected to jump by 32.3% to 84 billion yen. The company is also increasing its consolidated capital investments by 22 billion yen to 65 billion yen in FY99. Murata has attributed the remarkable peformance to the jump in orders from mobile phone makers in Europe and the US, for parts such as chip monolithic capacitors, ceramic filters, ceramic oscillators and microwave filters.

Murata Manufacturing intends to improve its resource distribution policies as the company's future will focus heavily on multimedia, mobile communications and car electronics. The company has also increased production of dielectric filters, surface acoustic wave filters, chip inductance and capacitance filters, isolators, voltage-controlled oscillators, ceramic filters and ultra-small chip laminated ceramic capacitors.
