Oki rolls up sleeves for system LSI projects
Article Abstract:
Oki Electric Industry Company Ltd will use silicon-on-isolator technology in developing system LSIs, particularly digital information terminals for home use. The company will also build LSIs based on its Silicon Platform Architecture, which is geared for audio-video processors. Oki already has an agreement with Cadence Design Systems for the supply of electronic design automation systems. It is also using Advanced RISC Machines' proprietary functional blocks and design methodologies in its system LSIs.

Full-frame shutter cameras catch visitors' eyes at Yokohama show

Cameras that feature full-frame shutter functions were one of the main attractions at the International Technical Exhibition on Image Technology and Equiment in Yokohama, Japan, in Dec 1998. Other products on display at the show can be categorized into measuring instruments, optical sources, image processing equipment, display devices and image storage and recording equipment.

TSMC opens subsidiary in Yokohama
Article Abstract:
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing has open a new facility in Yokohama, Japan, to strengthen its cooperative relations with Japanese semiconductor manufacturers. The company's exports to Japan accounted for 11% of its $1.5 billion sales in 1997. The Yokoham facility is geared for 0.25 micron processes and would eventually use 0.18 micron processes by the middle of 1999.
