Solar beacons illuminate transmission towers

The Arizona Electric Power Cooperative Inc. used a solar powered lighting system on transmission towers to meet Federal Aviation Administration requirements. The critical project, involving warning beacons at Bullhead City Airport, is described.

Line upgraded over hilly terrain
Article Abstract:
The Pennsylvania Power and Light Co. needed to upgrade its transmission lines in order to continue to serve its customers. Computer-aided analysis helped in the transfer development. The project with its modifications is described.

Glued laminated poles keep switches aligned
Article Abstract:
The Nebraska Public Power District determined that the use of glued laminated poles would provide more cost savings because maintenance crews would not have to align hardware as often as they did with wood poles.
